I was trying to think of a G-rated horror theme that hadn't been done to death (pun!), glanced over at a Mystery Science Theater DVD in the room, and had the idea.

when you want the flavor of bacon in a dip...
(it wasn't any particular movie that inspired the image, some people think its a close homage to "Them!". http://drshigley.com/lgh/ent108/ima.....hem_poster.jpg I'd never seen the poster for that movie until after I'd drawn this and people started to mention it. It was just an attempt to replicate the take an animal or a bug, make them giant size, have them attack people kind of b-movies)
