Fenris the Railfan
Yep, that's right! Fenris loves trains almost as much as I do, and he got his first taste of the high iron when I took him up to the Folkston Funnel last Thursday. Here, Fen observes a pair of CSX GE C40-8W's (both ex-Conrail units with one in fresh YN3 paint!) pulling a manifest (mixed) train.
Fen was a huge hit at Folkston, with several people walking up to see him, and even a few folks getting their photo taken with him! He's a real attention-getter, and I think I'll be bringing him back when I attend Railwatch 2011 next April. ^^

You know I just had a few minutes to myself to think just now and it occurred to me of just how truly important of a figure Cookie was to the Folkston area.
If it wasn't for him the railfan pavilion observation place would not be there nor would the type of following the town gets from our community.
This man made a tiny town in Georgia relevant because of his passion for trains.
I really think they should rename the park there in Folkston Cookie Railfan Park because of what Cookie has done and left for future generations.
I always wanted to meet the man face to face as I do all who are influential to this community.
What this man did was what he wanted to do and I hope someday to be able to go to the place Cookie built from his passion.
If there was a Hall of Fame for railfans I would put Cookie in there as the no doubt favorite.
Even though I never met him I admire what he left for the rest of us to enjoy and being a former well known and still well known railfan here in Spring I can tell you people like Cookie make what the rest of us do relevant because he did exactly what he wanted and the town of Folkston should be honored to be the most popular railfan spot in the Southeast thanks to one man's passion to share with others.
Cookie is The God of modern day real railfans who love what they do and don't let the stereotypes stop them from enjoying the passion they love.
