As to leg-stumpiness, in this one I'd suggest not having the legs squash together before they vanish behind your belly. The deep knee-like wrinkles in your trousers also add to the suggestion of stumppy. It's always useful to draw in a virtual behind to get leg length right, even if you won't see it in the final picture, I've always found.

You know, you're right. I just reworked the pants in paintshop, getting rid of that extra belly line, and it actually works a bit better. When I first drew this (without the rhino gal) you could see my rear end - which made the legs look not nearly as stumpy. My rear was a little higher up than hers. Putting that extra detail in the pants sort of messed it up.
