Character profile - Rodney
And here is one of my 'secret' protagonists. Rodney, your friendly neighborhood alien from the Pleiade-constellation.
Their race is already in touch with humanity, though they do not despise them for what they are. Pleiaders are a very peaceful society that would never hurt another being without purpose unless they are being attacked. They help each other wherever they can, hence why poverty and suffering do not exist on their homeworld. Of course, there are exceptions, but those few are helped and supported in any possible way. Children grow up in a very positive and friendly environment, taught by machines. There are only very few teachers/overseers at schools that ensure the comfort of their students.
Despite their booming level of technology and science, their infrastructure is very similar to the one on earth. They have mostly road-bound vehicles. It isn't exceptional to spot flying ones every now and then, though the airspace is mostly permitted for spacecraft only, especially because ware transport from one place to another occurs very frequently. If someone orders lunch, for example, it will be brought home via drones. Ships and pure aircraft are mostly used for bigger travels. Most vehicles are self-driving and navigating - and controlled by basic in-built systems. Rarely would you meet any conscious robot on their planet as they have just very recently succeeded with the creation of AI. Business, as well as household machines, aren't a rarity though.
Shops and supermarkets exist there too, though their species is very economical with how much and how frequently they fill their shelves with fresh foods. Most food is therefore ordered online. Pretty much every house and apartment is equipped with access to satellite-based internet, no matter how old or how many live in a house or apartment. Even elders or very young inhabitants are aware of how to use the internet for the most part. And if there are any difficulties, house-bots will support. Everyone receives information of any new scientific milestone immediately around the globe.
Pleiaders are very intelligent beings-, their strength does not reside within their physical vessels or weaponry, but their brains. Within the first couple of months, young Pleiaders learn how to communicate with clear words and the language their parents teach them-, and are taught to operate basic technology such as smartphones. Just within the age of three, a young Pleiader has already gathered the knowledge and capabilities of a 15-year-old human. Their brain seemingly never stops developing, even in old age. Alzheimer's is beyond their worry, rarely does any Pleiader get dramatically ill or forgettable.
A "limit" of age isn't purely defined either. Their kind has overcome the boundaries of natural death a long time ago by altering their DNA to live longer. Their body however weakens the older they get, something that cannot be stopped - or at least, they haven't found a solution to this problem yet. Most die when they reach the age of a thousand years.
The birth rate is very low on their planet due to the lack of females and asexuality of most males. Rarely would you find any individual that would consider intercourse a necessarity.
Rodney is one of the younger Pleiaders. He does have a great story to tell to those willing to listen, though. When his ship crash-landed on earth, for example. When he had to fake his physical appearance in order to live among humanity to gather necessary repairing materials and tools. Or his heart for cats, which resulted in him building three cat-like companion robots, each with their own unique personality.
None of the 'negative' events stopped Rodney from doing what he truly loves, though. The opposite, they motivated him to keep going. To explore the universe even further - to continue his search for answers and existences beyond the thinkable. Including the anomalous entity. A sighting and now, an ally he would never give up. One may say that they both consider each other spiritual siblings.
Mirage has helped Rodney to return to his homeworld-, and Rodney was the one who gave Mirage hints on where to find their 'guiding voice' which they've been searching for since their vessel-less self first entered the physical realm- as well as many other things. They both have undergone many journeys together, long before the entity even met the super-intelligences in the shadow of the universe.
Nowadays, long after the entity has followed its purpose, Rodney still roams in the universe-, but mostly on his homeworld. There, he uses the valuable technological information the entity gave him from the physical old ones to build devices that would normally be considered lethal and illegal in his world. He even upgraded his saucer-shaped spaceship to something much more advanced, others would only dream of. A certain Placentium-infused device the entity melted with Rodney's ship now allows him to travel from one place to another within no time, to visit them from time to time as well. Is it dangerous and could potentially kill him? Yes, he is aware. Does he care? Maybe a bit, but in the end, he is just as anti-heroic as Mirage. He is aware that death does not mean that all of his knowledge is lost. It will live on.
(Kept this in my head for a few years. Felt good to write down a short version of it.)
Rodney belongs to me 8i-ll-Ion.
