Here's today's version of this self study I'm performing. I'm trying to see if re-doing the same piece of art over and over will help me get better or lead to a final "perfect" version of my idea.
Character development time? I haven't really gone into this character much. I kind of created this character on a whim to see if I'd like having multiple "fursonas." I guess because I have multiple Causes that are important to me, and they don't all necessarily relate to one another, that I thought having multiple characters to speak out on them would help. Which is why I considered having a second FA page and separating my art between the two based on the content...
Back to character development... Aside from being a demon, Wretched is an activist for "positive atheism and the separation of church and state," to quote one of my favorite programs on the air, Atheist Experience (http://www.atheist-experience.org/) Also, he has the well-deserved title of "the Apostate."
So here he is: Wretched, the Apostate. Take two.

Thanks so much! I guess I have a bad habit of comparing myself to other artists that I admire. And I look at my sketchbook and compare old drawings to newer/better ones... I shouldn't do it but I can't help it sometimes. I appreciate your encouragement, though, and hope you like the 3rd attempt as well!
Thanks! I really like how he's coming out, too. He's changing a little bit here and there, especially as I start drawing and find out that some mistakes in shape and proportions actually make him look better. I really like Champ's reference sheet for him, but since then I've changed the nose a little bit--made it more fruit bat-shaped and more pointy... and the teeth are less prominent, at least in the perspective I have in this pic. I'm still experimenting, and I have until April or so to finalize it before the suit gets made.
Yeah, I got a quote and confirmation from Scribblefox on this one. I put in the request weeks before Beastcub started working on my suit. I might have liked to stick with her for the next project but I didn't want to wait till 2012 and I really like Scribblefox's hooved feet and dog/wolf faces. His style lends itself to this character pretty well.
