Quest 2: The Magician
Continuation of the previous post
The gang finally arrived back home in Haven, it was a long walk home through the mountain pass and the forest. The hideout is hidden quite well away from the public eye, and even then Evan doesn't seem to remember there being AS many trees as this on the way home... someone must have terraformed the place while they were gone or something!
Vyse cleared their throat and approached the door and let themselves in, already taking their trusty wizard hat on and laying it on thick with a "Everyone... I am sorry for the misdeeds I have committed, truly it was I who was at fault here taking your precious-". It was uncharacteristically interrupted by Noah who immediately ran into Vyse and gave them a big hug. They may have changed a lot but Noah would recognise this colour combination anywhere, this is Vyse alright! The two had a long talk together over tea and sweets, mostly Noah recounting Laura's adventure and bringing Vyse up to speed on what she's up to. Here Vyse thought Laura was gone, but she was more alive than ever!
Time passes and it's already noon, the resident boulder Tabitha is finally back home from getting a wardrobe update thanks to Eli coming for a visit. Vyse introduced themselves and offered a handshake, but Tabitha laughed and squeezed them hard under their arm. "HAHAHA, It's long lizard! Tabitha can not remember the last time Tabitha saw Lizard's friend, Tabitha's overjoyed to see this neck once more!". Vyse squeaked "Dho- do I knuw yuu??". Tabitha let go and said "Yes! Well, no, but Tabitha knows long lizard! Tabitha was always watching lizards from the shadows, respecting privacy sometimes maybe, Tabitha does not remember quite well, but Tabitha recalls all the time Lizard spoke of long lizard. Friend of Lizard is friend of Tabitha!". Tabitha went in for another hug while expressing her love for kobolds, or as she puts it, Lizards.
The day after Evan took Vyse to see Heidi in her thick of the woods, she lived in a hollowed out giant Sequoia and she certainly made the most of it. Before Vyse stood quite the hefty figure of a green deer, clad in a witches hat hiding a third eye. "Yeah, this is a witch alright". Vyse re-enacted their sorry appeal to Heidi, but she told them not to worry about it. She asked for her sword and told Vyse she'd show them something special, she was told by Evan that the kobold could use some tutoring to get more confident in their magic, maybe learn more interesting spells too! Out from the handle of the katana arose a purple flame, eerily familiar to the point of leaving Vyse star-struck. "WOW, your SWORD is a magic wand?? That is absolutely wild!" Vyse stuttered, with a confident smile growing on Heidi's face, knowing that Vyse will be fun to work with.
A few months passed since Vyse arrived, they frequently visit Heidi on a weekly basis for training and learn other tricks from Noah at home. They admire their new friends so much, what amazing feats they have achieved only as a family together, Vyse was starting to feel truly at home. One day Noah told Vyse to come with him to the docks nearby for a special occasion. A pack of kobolds who came with Vyse made their own little village nearby the forest and had built a proper dock with fishing spots for them, Vyse rightfully thought maybe Noah was taking them for fishing, but what met them instead was an unexpected visit from a familiar friend...
And thus concludes my current story, Quest 2 is finished! I swear not every quest story I do will include the introduction of a new character, but this one was incredibly fun to work on. Vyse is a permanent addition to the team of thieves! A Knight, a Warrior, a Thief, a Cleric and a Wizard. Together they are the worst! I hope everyone has enjoyed the story, I definitely wrote a lot more than usual this time and it was really fun 💦
I'll be showing more of Vyse later, I've been having a lot of fun with them outside the story!
