izou is the son of kisaragi and stepson of akame and the older brother of kisame.

when kamakiri attempts to kill james, sara and kisame, izou, his stepbrother shirozaru and tesshin rescue the three of them.

a couple of days later, kisaragi, akame, kisame, shirozaru and izou went to the lake to go fishing while it was raining. as they were on their way back however, they were attacked by tegan, the daughter of akame, her mate simon, her sons, sora, mitch and viral and cutler, their new recruit. a fight soon broke out, six on five cutler fights with kisaragi, while simon and tegan gang up on akame. mitch, viral and sora fight with izou, shirozaru and kisame, however, seeing as cutler was aboult to kill his father, kisame lunges at cutler, causing them to be knocked off the cliff that they were fighting near and into the river below. izou and shirozaru run back to gajou town to get help. when they arrive back, they learn from a heartbroken kisaragi and akame that kisame is dead. they then show kisame's ripped shirt.

for years, izou blamed himself for kisame's death.
after the others returned from the island incident, he was shocked to see kisame, alive and well, among the group. reliefed that his younger brother survived, he embraces his younger brother in a bearhug.
