The Autobots and Decepticons battle to retrieve a Mini-Con pod located on a US Army base undergoing renovation. In the process, however, they free a potential threat to both sides.

Decepticons featured in both versions of this installment are Megatron, Starscream, Thrust, and Cyclonus.

Mini-Cons appearing in both versions of this installment are Sparkplug, Rollbar, Crumplezone, Blackout, the Land Military Team (Wreckage, Knock Out, Bonecrusher), Longarm, Refute, Liftor, and the Destruction Team (Dualor, Drill Bit, Buzzsaw).

Humans appearing in both versions are Diana Masters, Rad White, Carlos Lopez, Alexis Romanov, and Billy Francis.
