I think this might end up being my favorite moment in thus comic. Willy's description of the difference between modern art (sloppy representation of events with no skill) versus real artwork with skill and intent, undercut by Cody's pointed and cheeky question about the nature of art, followed by Willy stating with a bit of sadness that the truth about art upsets him...
It's amazing just how much character exposition is written in just one page.

Sounds like my life when I was an "Art Student" going for his BFA portfolio reveiw: In a Acedemia self-limited to Abstract Expressionism and "Post-Modern Angry-Activist-and Exclusively-Leftist Art", someone whose style (and more importaintly VOICE) was deemed "too illustrative," and was promptly rejected. Causing me to do a mad dash to refile my graduation papers (now downgraded to a BA instead).
The one word of encouragement came from the dept. accedemic advisor, a ceramicist, who said this "doesn't make you any less of an artist."
