# xenogoyles. The three gargoyles I just posted were part of the cast of a "high-concept" crossover fanfic idea, "ALIENS vs. Gargoyles," but, rather than set it in the traditional Gargoyles cartoon setting, I decided to create a whole new setting on an alien world with a "lost" tribe of 'goyles I could play with/kill off at will.
In a nutshell, on this distand, largely uninhabitted jungle planet, a tribe of gargoyles live out their lives ignorant of anything involving earth, the Wyvern Clan, the Gathering, etc...until the day a spacecraft crashes into the surface of the planet. Splitting up into two investigating parties, one group manages to find an escape pod that had crashed about a mile away with a single female gargoyle inside. She awakens and tells a story of 'goyles being used as a slave labor force by "the Masters" and accidentally stumbling upon a nest full of strange eggs. The rest of her story plays out like it does in many other "ALIENS" stories; she only managed to survive by breaking the device the Masters use to force the gargoyles into and out of stone form, thus petrifying herself in stonesleep and killing the unborn chestburster.
The second party, however, find the ship and the strange sleeping stone figures seen in the pic above...of course, the instant they touch one, it breaks free of stonesleep, as do all the others, and all Hell breaks loose.
Unfortunately, that's all I have of the story because of it actually coming to me in a dream and the last image of the dream was the xenogoyles breaking free and attacking. Still, this remains one of my favorite fancreations since I feel I was able to successfully capture both concepts fairly accurately with it.
