Canadian Chrome : Black Mirror 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS
As fun as taking pictures of all the old iron at the recent local car show was, this gorgeous Tuxedo Black 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible gave me fits while I was trying to photograph it. The black paintwork on it was exquisite, but highly, highly reflective -- guess who's silly crossfolf muzzle and paws showed very clearly in nearly every shot! The best I could manage was this dramatic frontal close up that highlights the Chevrolet emblem on the leading edge of the hood; a little flash of red and white amongst acres of chrome and deep black lacquer.

I think it was the sky that day that influenced those low-angle shots. I was aware that it was a really pretty sky, but also that the bright sunlight was making it a bit difficult to shoot the cars from a regular perspective without a lot of glare and reflection. Like I said above, I loved this car, but it was the most aggravating one there that I tried to shoot that day !
When I started shooting from a lower angle I immediately noticed how the blue sky enhanced the shots, but my actual aim was simply to get out of the glare zone, so in a way it was a happy accident. While trying to adjust to (for me) tricky light conditions I stumbled upon an angle and technique that I now really like :)
