Back in the 80's, Deal was working on a college based slice-of-life cartoon called "Opporknockity Toons."
He passed away from effects of sickle-cell before he got too far into the story.
Monika Livingstone did some inking for the series. That's how I got to meet Deal.
He was a very nice guy with a fine touch for creating characters you cared about. He is much missed.
