From the notes of Anthony Wales, keeper of Smithereen's Landing archives
The Wahzyt are the native inhabitants of the Landing and a completely different people from Landingites. They are quite a bit smaller, the largest being no taller than a small Bother, and mammalian in appearance, covered in fur, with longer hair on their heads. Their eyes are more cat-like in shape and size, being either green or gold, while their face somewhat resembles a cross of a ferret’s and a dog’s, with smaller, pointed ears. Instead of clawed hands, they have clawed feet, which aids them in digging and climbing steep slopes. Their tails resemble a lion’s, long a tufted at the end. Fur colouration and patterns are also much like a cat’s: black, grey and brown are more common colours while orange, yellow, tan and white are more unusual. Any combination of these colours can appear in various patterns: stripes, spots, banding, streaked, patched, or pointed like a Siamese. Their hair and tail tufts are bright vivid colours.
Each Wahzyt bears blue markings on their face and wrists. Their facial markings indicate which of the fourteen clans the Wahzyt comes from, while the wrist markings denote rank in the village.
