Putting all jokes and sexy pictures aside, I wanted to draw a quick picture in honor of this day... September 11, 2001. A day when America was forever changed. A day when American planes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Centers (aka The Twin Towers) of New York City. One also crashed into the Pentagon, and another in the fields of Pennsylvania. 3,000 people were killed that day.
Here we have dedicated police officer Tyson Undez Edwards and Marine Major Samson Scott saluting the American flag to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11
20 years later, I still remember that day decently well:
I was 14 and just barely started my freshman year of high school. Less than a month later, the date was September 11, 2001. The day started like normal. I came to school and went to class. But then we began hearing rumors of a plane crash into one of the Trade Centers in New York City. I was in my band class when an announcement came on and one of the office staff told the school that we all really need to honor America this day. That announcement seemed odd, but we didn't think much of it. . Then we heard from the teacher in the class next to ours (he had no class that hour and was watching the news) that another plane crashed into the second tower, and America was under attack by terrorist. We began to get concern, but were still very confused. We tried to play our music, but our teacher couldn't stay focused. Then the other teacher came in again and told us one of the towers collapsed. Our band teacher couldn't go on and cancelled class that day.
Next class period was my study hall. There I was taking with friends and asking what's going on. I mentioned one of the towers falling. Then one friend mentioned that the other tower also fell. Again we couldn't figure out what was going on. This seemed too surreal to be true.
We continued classes, but all the students and teachers would talk about is the news. At lunch time, I finally heard about the Pentagon being hit by another plane. Later one of my teacher cancelled lessons for that day, and had the news on TV. There I finally got to see the chaos of the towers being hit by planes and eventually collapsing. Such horror I never in my life thought I would ever see. Not much school work was done that day.
After school, I got off my bus and ran home. Once inside I asked my parents what was going on. They told me that America is under attack. There I heard about another plane crashing in Pennsylvania. Shortly after we all had to drive to a nearby town to do some grocery shopping. Normally that town is very VERY busy: people going home, going shopping, getting dinner, etc. But that day the town looked like a ghost town. It was almost empty. I was actually frightened by the sight. I realized that this attack is way more serious than I thought. In the few stores we went in, the employees were either watching the news or listening to the radios. Even the newspapers already had the event as their main headline.
I remember being restless that night, still unsure that this was actually happening.
The next few days, weeks, months, all we heard were the events of 9/11. I too watched the news for awhile. Some of the most horrible images were seeing people trapped in the Trade Centers as fires raged on, and even seeing people jumping to their deaths. Then to hear those awful screams of people in the streets as the towers fell. After awhile I couldn't bare watching it anymore.
To this day I am still haunted by that day. I doubt I will ever forget it.
But as awful and as sad as that tragic day was, I am always reminded that God is still in control, and no amount of terror will ever change that. Why God let this event happen, I probably will never know. But He will always be there for us when we are scared, sad, helpless, hurt, etc. because He promised that He always will. God hears every cry, He sees every tear, and sees the blood that is spilled, and He will never let that go unpunished. And all the people who were responsible for this attack will one day have to stand before God Himself and answer for the lives they took. People may escape justice here on Earth, but they will never escape God's justice.
Although the world is a crazy place, especially now with pandemics, more terror, chaos, hatred, natural disasters, etc. we can always look to God for hope and peace. And one day, when God says so, He will order all of His faithful followers to come home to Him in Heaven, and put an end to all evil for good. So be of good cheer, and be ready for Christ's return!
May we never forget the victims and heroes of 9/11!

While I wasn't old enough to remember this, the impact it's left behind for many others is beyond comprehension. For the families and friends of the fallen, those that witnessed the tragedy unfold before their very eyes, and everyone else around the world who saw this on the news. May the sould of those lost to this rest peacefully in heaven to this day.
My parents saw this on the news, and for a minute thought it was a movie, but quickly realized it was real, and it was happening now across the sea.
Such a lovely tribute. And such true and inspiring words.

I was 13 when that happened (gosh *20* years ago). I was getting ready to go to school in the morning, when my mom called me and told me, "Something terrible happened." I turned on the news like she told me, but I didn't understand or appreciate just what was going on. I'm ashamed to admit this, but after I got home from school later that day, I was annoyed to find that none of my after-school TV shows were airing, that they were still focusing on the Trade Centers. Again, I didn't understand what this all meant at the time; I was a child wrapped up in my own little world.
Eventually, however, I *did* end up understanding: one night during dinner, my family watched a documentary on what had happened, with interviews of survivors... not to mention clips of people jumping to their deaths. I finally understood why this was all such a big deal.
"Why God let this event happen, I probably will never know." Well, I believe we once had a discussion on the topic of why horrible things happen: mankind has free will... as well as a sinful nature. Mankind has also rejected God and so therefore do not follow His word. Thus we get the world we live in today. Yet God will always see His people through their journey in this world till they get to His kingdom.

I really don't blame you for thinking that way back at that age. We were still young and didn't quite understand terrorism. I remember back in school some students were just making jokes about the whole thing, and not realizing how bad it was. But we all grew up and know what a mess this world really is.
I remember seeing a documentary too a year later all about the event, causes, and aftermath. Very sad, but informative.
Right. God gave everyone the choice, but many choose to follow their own evil ways instead. But as mentioned, their deeds will not go unpunished. So it is better to remain close to God always.

Right. Though I remember when my mom told me about what it was like when JFK was assassinated back in the '60s; she said all the kids on the school bus going on home were quiet. Pretty different to how the kids in my time acted, but then again, attitudes do change with every generation (along with a few other contributing factors).
Yes. Definitely eye-opening. But also helpful.
God is a just God. Every deed will be judged - and if not in this world, then the next. Those who believe in Christ as their Savior have already had their sins paid for by Jesus Himself, reserving them a place in His kingdom.

I know that JFK was looked up upon by almost everyone in the country, so I can see why they were quiet.
But during 9/11, the kids were talking about the event on the bus. We still didn't quite know what was happening.
Right. That was the first I heard about the terrorist going after other targets like the White House, Sears Tower, Hoover Dam, The Space Needle, US Capital, and a few others. Also I didn't know that they halted all flights that day too. Every plane was ordered to land. If not, they risked being shot down.
That's exactly right. It's in God's hands now.

It did change for some people when they found out that JFK supported the Vietnam War and was part of the mafia.
Right. I don't remember exactly what they said (I saw this years ago), but after the plane hit the second tower, the American people and officials caught on to their plans and made it difficult to hijack more planes. Especially when they gave the order to land all planes.
They also shown of security footage at airports of possible terrorists running out of the airports.
*HUG*

Oh really? I didn't know that. But then again, I know so little about presidents/politicians anyway. XD
Thank goodness for that, at least. I heard a story about a plane that was aiming towards the Pentagon, and all the passengers on the plane got on their cell phones (or shared them with anyone who didn't already have one) to call their loved ones to tell them goodbye, before attacking the terrorists and taking the plane down before it could hit the Pentagon. Those people sacrificed themselves.

Actually I'm in the same boat. I just happened to know about that one.
That was Flight 93. Actually another plane already hit the Pentagon. Flight 93 was either aiming for the White House or the Sears Tower (I can't remember which one). But yes, they banded together to fight back before the terrorist would strike their target. At this point some of the passengers already knew they were going to die. So they decided that if they are going to die, they are going to die fighting. Another possible was: one of the passengers was a pilot. So they thought if they could take down the terrorist, they could get that pilot to land the plane to safety. That could've worked, but sadly they still crashed.

I was 6 at the time and I remember it as if it were yesterday, but on that tragic day there were heroism, courage, and bravery. Over 2000 emmployies from Mogan Stanley/dean Whiter made it out due to Rick rescorla, and Gander airport became the safe heaven for Aircraft and the town helped.
And there was a boat dunkirk in New York to get people out. But we got Osama Bin Laden the mastermind, and those who wanted to bring harm. But we will never forget those who died so that other's could live.

I wish I could remember everything that happened when I heard about it, but I was 14 when it happened, too; I was in my 8th grade science class when the announcement was made. We all had a moment of silence for the many people who lost their lives to the terrorist attacks. Once school had wrapped up that day, I was hoping to watch my favorite shows, but I saw nothing but the attack on the World Trade Center on nearly every channel. At first, I was concerned about how all my favorite TV shows weren’t on, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized our country had bigger fish to fry. That my problems were just a small school of guppies by comparison. Once I came to understand that, I was so ashamed of how selfish I was thinking. And Mommom’s passing a month later due to lung cancer made it all worse for me, I felt like my whole world was crashing down. I even contemplated suicide so as to eliminate the pain. I’m just glad I had people around me to snap me out of my thoughts and help me realize the situation better than I could have on my own.
To this day, I still regret not feeling the same sympathy until later on that year. But what’s done is done, you can’t change the past… but you can learn from it for the benefit of the future. And you’re right about God being in control. We may not understand why he allowed the terrorist attacks to happen, but He will always be there in our best and worst times if we call upon Him.
May all who lost their lives on that fateful day never be forgotten. Lest we forget.
Edit: Oh, and one more thing… given how I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, this news of terrorists crashing in my home state comes as a complete shock to me. How have I never known about this? 😞

Sorry to hear that you went through so much during that time. But i'm glad you were able to overcome that trial.
It is anyone's guess. But God is forever in control, no matter how much the world fights against Him.
You never heard about the plane in Pennsylvania until now?

Thank you. It was a really trying year ever since that fateful day.
That’s true, He does.
If I had before, I might’ve forgotten all about it. (My memory hasn’t been the same since my high school graduation.) And even then, the media these days has only been covering the World Trade Center attack where I live. Either way, it’s still horrifying to know that this happened in my neck of the woods.

What the heck! That was never my intention at all. How dare you think I would do something like that! I could've just said 'fuck this day' and ignored it. But no, I chose to make a tribute in a way I know how to honor those victims and heroes.
If this picture offends you, then you don't have to look at it. I am not changing anything on it.

Although they are furry, they are still in their respective uniforms saluting the fallen. He did say that Samson Scott was or is a marine and Tyson undez is a police officer. I personally don’t know how many people did perish because of it. He is trying to make something that tragic for all future generations.
It's so hard to remember that day. I was only 5 years old but had no clue what was going on. I don't know what I did that day but I was oblivious to the horror that was going on in New York. So many lives lost and the most tragic day in US history. 9/11 is a day we will never forget nor will we forget the heros who gave their lives to stop the terrorists from crashing into the tower and tried to save the lives trapped in the world trade center. May they all rest in peace and may our country honor their sacrifice for our future. 🇺🇸
Especially at your age when we are most impressionable I'm not surprised it left you haunted.
Seems like everyone remembers what they were doing when it happened, but I guess I was too young to remember or even comprehend the situation until years later. Today now fully understanding, I don't like watching any live recordings of the event. It's sickening.
The only consolation I have regarding the people who got away with concocting this attack [or any crime against innocent people] is they won't be able to get away with it when God calls their name.

I want to hope we don't have to witness such tragic events happen again but the way the world is headed I can't say as much other than the hope of not being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
On side note, I'm glad to see service men Tyson and Samson being proud of the country and countrymen/women they serve. They put their lives on the line so the rest of us can live secure and safe which we take for granted.
