I'm proud of this one....if I ever finish it haha One of the critters In habiting my world. a mount for the humanoid bird people of Theior
and i know you dont care but i made pretty much detailed these critters lives.
haha proof I have no life or at least I watched too much animal planet as a kid......i pretty much came up with this on the fly haha:
this is an enarok. a very very large flying scaley bird..thing...They have extremely large wingspans and plated bodies...they, though very large, are not the largest things in the sky. This is a male.Males are also very brightly colored, often dorn in bright yellows reds and blues, many assume it is to atract mates, or ward off other males. The colors get duller as they age. Males are normally found alone, though this is otp to change when food is plentiful. They will even hunt together to bring down large prey. These small "packs"never seem to last long.
Females are dull in color compared to male, but still have hues of bright green or blue, ocasionally small bits of red will show up on some rare individuals. The head spikes of a female are normally smaller then males. Females are larger then males in size and wingspan. Females are often found in pods, traveling together, finding safety in numbers.
During breeding season, males build extremely large hanging nests on cliff breeding grounds and will often hunt prey for an offering to a potential mate. Females flock to these grounds to try and pick a suitable mate. Males call to females and will present their offering to the females. The males with the largest and strongest nest are often choosen, they say this is because this means the male is a survivor and strong, he's had more time to develop nest building techniques. Females lay a single egg, but males will often mate with several females, who will share a nest. Females will jointly take care of the chicks. once the nest is full this depending on how large the nest is), females will scare off the males.
