The Sentinels are an organization of inter galactic for-hire specialists. Better equipped than most freelance groups, the Sentinels prefer to deal with more legal and moral leaning jobs and clientele than the bounty hunters of the galaxy. Starting education as early as age 16, Sentinels generaly stick with the organization for life, training to serve in one of seven different divisions.
Oratus Sentinels
Pathfinders and rapid response rescuers, the Oratus Sentinels are unique in that they rarely serve on teams. Instead, they are usually given highly advanced but small ships that are designed for swift flight and light combat. Their jobs rarely fall outside their areas of expertise as they blaze trails to the unexplored parts of the galaxy, scout out sectors without much of a civilized presence, and respond to emergency distress calls from anyone and everyone they pick up.
While they don't necessarily serve in rigid teams like the others, they do often pair up with other Oratus Sentinels to get jobs done, their ships designed for both a pilot and navigator to comfortably live in together.
They're equipped for simple exploration and making the most out of their ship with various neural links in their suit to connect them to their ship systems.
Thesum Sentinels
A bit more in depth than Oratus Sentinels in their exploration efforts, Thesum Sentinels are the archaeologists and historians of the Sentinels. While they don't often deal in paid contracts like the other divisions, they are still very important to the organization. Exploring ruins, securing ancient artifacts and powerful technology, and discovering the secrets of the universe.
They serve in teams of up to six, and make expeditions to investigate rumors and chase leads. Any artifacts they do find are returned to the Sentinels for further study or safekeeping. Equipped usually with light weaponry, their main tool is a handheld computer they use for cataloging and investigation.
Diata Sentinels
The most public face of the Sentinels, Diata Sentinels serve the public first and foremost. Offering their services as investigators, security details, reserve police, and in some cases even public defenders, the Diata have a lot of pressure placed on them to uphold Sentinel honor. But this also puts them in the line of fire from politicians and civilians that hold disdain for the organization. Their training is a lot more in depth than others, given their line of work involving both combat engagement and civil interactions. But their gear is there to help pick up wherever they may be lacking.
While lightly armored, Diata Sentinels are equipped with personal energy shields to help protect them without slowing them down. Their visor system helps them keep in contact with other members of their team, as well as help bring up protocol and procedures for the planets they serve on and even function as a translation device. While their clothing is made to look more stylish than the other Sentinels', it doesn't sacrifice function for fashion.
Renarius Sentinels
The Renarius Sentinels are the soldiers for hire of the Sentinels. Taught to be a deadly force against even the most hardened of enemy combatants, Renarius Sentinels go through years of training before they're considered ready to take the battlefield. But if their training didn't already make them a force to be reckoned with, their heavy powered battle armor will. Made to enhance movement and withstand heavy weapons fire, Renarius Sentinel power armor comes equipped with personal energy shields, personal communications relays, and can even function in hazardous environments such as toxic atmosphere for up to five hours. They're tough and grizzled, but as hired guns, their loyalty is more to their team than to who they're working for.
Vendi Sentinels
Vendi Sentinels are hunters, plain and simple. Whether their hunting creatures or escaped criminals is usually down to the contract. Trained in the art of stealth and tracking, Vendi Sentinels know how to kill as quick and silently as possible. Their armor is fairly light, and the closest things to personal shields they have is simple environmental shielding. But they don't aim to engage in firefights. The cloak they wear isn't just for looks after all. It's an advanced active camouflage cloak that helps make them even harder to detect than they already are. Though it draws power from the armor, the cloak also has dozens of micro batteries in it so it can be detached and used to shield other objects or individuals. The helmet can supply the wearer with fresh air for up to an hour, and can effectively scrub atmosphere of any toxicity for three hours.
Sardos Sentinels
The Sardos Sentinels are very different from the other Sentinels. They don't work in teams. They don't take contracts. Records don't seem to mention them at all. Those that do see them don't get the chance to interact. Their role is unclear in the official sense, but other Sentinels whisper about them as some sort of inquisition force. Their shadowy nature only compounds these rumors. It's unclear how one becomes a Sardos Sentinel. But no one is clambering to find out.
Torem Sentinels
Torem Sentinels are the tech specialists of the Sentinels. They field test and file patents for new equipment, they help diagnose tech issues where environments are too hostile for your average on-call consultant, and they run salvage operations to help bring in raw materials for the Sentinels to use. Equipped for versatility, they go on the job with as much tech equipment they can carry, as they have to be prepared to deal with every possible worst case scenario.
