I used to live in London and actually the individual switches for the sockets were a really smart idea. (Plus the two different flush settings for the toilets, too.) It's just that the size of the plugs made me think of Lenny from "Of Mice and Men".

It's possible to touch the exposed, electrified prongs when plugs are partially inserted into the socket, too.

It exists already: On a topographic map of my home state, the location of high-tension electrical transmission lines are denoted in a similar font. Upon first viewing, the appearance of a thin gray line crossing mountain passes and such seemed a demarcation of some mysterious political border called the POWERLINE, hence its inclusion in this doodle. Sorry, I'm a bit verbose tonight.
