Well, the art certainly isn't clumsy. It's a beautifully simple picture, and sometimes a swift execution only adds to that. So, no clumsiness at all. I actually mainly didn't want to be very elaborate because of the personal significance - I'm sure you understand considering the subject matter.
But I think the colour tone, expression and detail are in perfect harmony and done just right to give the maximum effect. It's a piece in a minor key, and it works.

This piece if very nice. I really love the pose in which the character is sitting. You can tell a lot by what the character is thinking by the way he is sitting, standing, even facial expression. What is a nice touch is the pedals scattered about on the ground, an aftermath of him slamming the flowers with some anger or frustration with it. From what I sense what he is thinking, he is pondering what would she like. He is not willing to give up just yet, even if he is hanging on a thread. He is not ready to give up yet.
Thats what I feel in this piece. This is very lovely

Thank you very much! :)
I thought the pedals scattered around the ground would make it more clear that that stuff on the ground are flowers ... (I suck at painting them :/)
And thank you very much for thinking a little bit about this piece and interpret it in your own way. :)

I'm sure it is, especially when you're really, really in love.
Thank you, and yes, you may ask. :)
Like mentioned in the comment, it's rather a speed painting than anything else ... I take acrylics, use loooots of water and just paint very roughly and blotchy. I work from dark to light and always define the shadows first, then I roughly paint the "colors" and then I add some texture by making blotches on it and adding details like grass and fur structure with appropriate brushes.
I hope that quick explanation helps. :)
