Caleb stared up at the ceiling of the guest room. They couldn’t quite see it, given how dark it was, but for that reason they didn’t really have much else to look at. They hadn’t bothered to cover up with a blanket, instead relying on their hoodie, fur, and thick diaper to keep them covered and warm, which was working well enough, despite the softly howling winds blowing outside the cabin. Caleb rolled onto their left side, diaper rustling loudly in the quiet of the cabin, and let their cast-clad arm hang down across their chest as they curled up tightly.
Sleep wasn’t very likely at this point, Caleb had decided. They’d been out for a while, maybe an hour or so but they weren’t sure, and that short amount of rest had left their diaper sagging, and their head spinning. Another hour of sleep would almost certainly see them leaking onto the bed, and between the aching, swirling sensation in their head and their bulky cast getting in the way, they didn’t exactly feel up to changing into a fresh one.
Caleb continued to toss and turn in bed, becoming increasingly aware of the sheer weight of their diaper, especially as it continued to cool to the point of being uncomfortably cold. Caleb had no idea how long they’d been up by this point, but clearly it had been far too long, and yet still the ache persisted. Caleb knew they had to sleep at some point, but they needed a fresh diaper first. With a groan, Caleb started to sit up, accepting that they only had one option left.
They pushed aside a few bloody tissues on their headboard and grabbed their goggles, allowing the blurry shapes in the dark to resolve into recognizable furniture, and set their paws down on the cold wooden floor, diaper crinkling and squishing beneath them as they positioned themself on the edge of the bed. After a moment to let their head settle back, they pushed off, floorboards groaning as they stood up. Caleb’s diaper hung heavily between their legs as they waddled towards the dresser, even more full than they’d realized in bed.
The top drawer of their dresser was the first step in solving that dilemma, though. Pulling it open, Caleb took out a packet of wipes, a bottle of powder, and another of their thickest diapers. Any more sleep would mean more wetting, but Caleb hoped they'd empty enough out the first time that it would be more than enough to hold whatever was left. Supplies now in hand, they continued onto the second step.

It's been however long it was since my journal about a new story, a few months I think, and, to be honest, I haven't written anything. Not for that story, not for anything else. I've spent the time gaming, and staring at blank pages, having an absolutely wonderful time. But I finally decided that something was better than nothing, and started on a new short story to get myself back into things. It's not done, it's not the one I was teasing, but it's my first upload with an nb character, and it's something, so I'm... well, relieved more than happy. Hopefully someone enjoys, and hopefully I write something else this year.
