is that a scratchboard or is it white pencil/chalk on black paper? I can't quite tell, but either way, phenomenal job.

I'm actually kind of surprised, you're the first person I've talked to that knows what that is. It is scratch board, I only wish I could draw with chalk like that :P

I'm an art student, gonna major in Studio and hopefully work for Disney for a bit after college, so I'm very curious to materials and techniques n.n;;

again, though, really good. I kinda suck at scratchboards in my personal opinion, but my teacher liked my work -_-

That’s the tricky thing about art; it’s completely objective. You just need to remember to do it for you and not because you’re told to or the way your told to (yeah if you get a job in that are then you have to, to a point). I kind of envy you in the way that I’ve always wanted to go to an art school. But for me it’d only be a past time so I can’t justify the costs. You should post some of your stuff, I’d like to see it.
