SO i been thinking, what if the events of hlvrai ended up happening eventually in the thingvrai setting?

things would go PRETTY DIFFERENTLY, considering that by this point in thingvrai, the science team are all already a close friend group, forzen is long dead, bubby and coomer don’t have the same OP powers and cybernetics as in canon, gordon and benrey are in a relationship, and the reason benrey’s even a guard this time is because he just Does Not Trust black mesa, and wanted to be able to make sure all his buds are okay.

and also benrey is literally The Thing. that alone would make a lot of things play out pretty damn differently.

and the first thing i thought about that would go different from how it did in canon, is when benrey gets cut in half by that blast door. canon benrey got mildly inconvenienced due to needing to wait and respawn. thingrey meanwhile gets mildly inconvenienced due to his biomass getting cut in half, and now his other half has gotta find an alternate route to get back to the rest of him and the science team.

worse yet, his upper half is now too short to reach up and kiss his boyfriend. :(

he didn’t have enough biomass in either half to reform the missing parts and like, make them actually proportional. he also didn’t have another pair of pants to put on, and running around black mesa with no pants on would be weird. so he just improvises with some crab leg-human finger mashup limbs. because that's not as weird as running around with no pants on. obviously.
