This reminds me of another game that has Glass Cannons in it, the Escort Class ships from Star Trek Online due to their giving high damage only to have low shields and hull integrity. My Klingon Raptor is always dishing out the damage only to hear "forward shield has failed" or "hull integrity below a certain %" and I'm all like FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Pretty much, though the escorts can move fast, their problem is that most of the decent weapons are in the front which means most of the time you're facing towards an enemy which is really annoying since the forward shield is always going to be down.
Guess that's why I don't use many glass cannons in Pokemon though, since like you mentioned GC's with low speed are a pain in the butt.
