Tano, because I love (and perform) breakdancing/b-boying! I love the aesthetics and kinetics, y'know. I'm not too good at it, admittedly, but I still love it.
Name: Tano ‘Sparks’ Sampson
Species: Manectric
Battle Skill: Average
Average Grades: 61%
Age: 15
Height: 5’6.9” (1.7m)
Weight: 149.9lb (68kg)
Grade: Sophomore
Family: Father: Andrew Sampson (Electrike) Mother: Melissa Sampson (Manectric)
Older Sister (17 years old): Lucy Sampson (Manectric)
History:
Tano is a typical boy of the modern hip-hop movement, although he comes from a reasonably privileged environment. He originally lived in Phenac City in Orre, but once took a holiday to Pyrite City, and ended up loving the culture of the place. That was where he saw his first glimpse of breakdance, simply being done on the streets. Loving the look and speed of the style he made it his goal to learn the unique style.
Finally finding the chance to be taught it in Phenac City Tano joined a small class of teenage boys, doing quite terribly in the beginning due to his naturally inflexible body. While he was outpaced by his classmates because of this he eventually caught up with them due to his sheer determination in the course. With his newfound skills in the dance style Tano’s dream of becoming a professional dancer were getting closer. However, eventually the other students got sick of his uppity attitude and pride, beating him down after one class. However, using a improvised combination of his dancing and his electricity toppled them, though Tano took many hits during the fight. Astounded by his unrealised potential he went on to learn to fight alongside his dancing training.
However, his training was cut off when his parents moved to Viridian City so that Andrew Sampson could get a promotion, which upped the family’s income considerably. Tano was crushed that he had to break off his training, and ended up being sent to the PCA to learn fighting. While frustrated by his lack of a tutor Tano went on, hoping to somehow teach himself.
Personality:
Tano is a very upbeat boy, constantly on the go. He loves nothing more than feeling the thrill of speed, whether from his beloved breakdance, or simply athleticism in general. Once he gets moving there’s no stopping him; as unlike Aero and Twitch’s speed Tano’s is more based around a sole rhythm or beat rather than flat out speed. He is happy to go slower for others, so long as there’s a beat he can follow. Due to this he has a lot of trouble adapting his speeds for the situation, hating it when the ‘tempo’ of his life is forced to shift.
Tano is friendly and outgoing, happy to chat with anyone and everyone so long as they don’t press their views on him; a real hatred of his. He believe solely in freedom of speech, the reason he gets along with so many people despite their clashing views, and the reason he loves street dance so much. Following this belief, Tano rarely voices his opinion on things, although when forced to decide he generally prefers to go with more aggressive methods; though it really depends on the situation.
Interests:
Tano’s passion is his b-boying (breakdancing) and hip-hop, which he incorporates into everything he does. It’s in his fighting, in his running, in his… dancing; so long as there’s a beat he’ll be on the floor. Due to his love of it along with his great experience in the style Tano is quite amazing when he throws down his moves. He specialises in downrocking (breakdancing based around the dancer being close to the ground, allowing their hands to be used to support them) and performing power moves (flares, headspins, backspins, etc). Of course, this passion means he doesn’t pay much attention to anything else, but he doesn’t put down others’ interests either.
Moves:
Freshman Moves:
Thunder Wave: With this move Tano sends a pulse of stunning electricity through his foe’s body, mainly via charging a surface they are in contact with. This move requires little energy or movement, and thus is easily slotted into his normal routines.
Quick Attack: Tano’s fighting style is based around speed and flow, so this move acts as the basis of his style. While most of his fighting is based on altered dance moves, particularly leg sweeps, Tano can turn any contact with his foe into an attack with his electricity. However, unlike most electric-types Tano does not simply charge the energy naturally, instead using his kinetic energy from his dance to charge himself.
Charge: Sending himself into a flare or backspin Tano uses his centrifugal force to create kinetic energy, which is then turned into electricity. With enough time spinning Tano can be overcharged and thus have far more explosive thunder attacks.
Discharge: Usually used after charging Tano jumps into the air, slamming the ground with a blast of electricity which arcs through the ground, shocking anyone in contact with it.
Sophomore Moves:
Magnet Rise: Using his electricity Tano creates a magnetic charge within himself, allowing him to draw or repel himself to conductive objects, often at surprisingly high speeds. With enough magnetic surfaces around himself Tano can practically fly.
Flash: Putting himself into a freeze (a dance move in which one puts themselves into an impressive but maintainable position) Tano makes a blast of blinding light, then continues his routine.
Charge Beam: Tano has a strange take on this move. After charging extensively Tano turns himself into a bolt of extremely fast lightining, bouncing off of surfaces like a laser. Anyone hit by him is heavily electrocuted, but yet Tano continues through them.
Thunder: The finisher for Tano’s battle ‘dances’, Tano leaps out of a final power move and sends bolt of thunder down on his foe, charring them with it’s devastating power.
Appearance:
Tano is quite slim, as such a light body weight is required for many hip-hop moves; although he is also very strong despite his size. Tano generally wears blue camouflage cargo pants, along with a simple blue t-shirt, and always wears his carefree grin, along with his beloved red soap-shoes. He’s been known to wear various costumes for his dance routines, most of them made by Isabella, all of which he keeps afterwards.
Team and Relationships:
Tano is the best friend of Andre, who is practically his polar opposite attitude wise; yet the two get along. Because of this he is also a friend of Andre’s girlfriend, Janice, whom he gets along surprisingly well with since he doesn’t outright reject her flirting, although he doesn’t follow-through either. Tano is a bit of a role model to Aero, who admires his far higher skill in breakdance, not to mention his speed. It’s rumoured that Alicia has a crush on Tano, as she tends to be a lot kinder to him than other students, although Tano doesn’t seem to treat her any better than any of the other students in return. Tano also gets along with Isabella, as she makes most of his costumes for him due to the freedom he allows her in their design.
Tano and his friend Andre are now in a team, along with Mitzy and Sarabi. The team was named Team Throne by Sarabi for unknown reasons (for the time being) and they are searching for a fifth member at the moment.
