While winterghasts do not create children of their own, they are an impressively parental species. Older and more powerful winterghasts will sometimes seek out winterghast chicks for no other reason then to protect them through their vulnerable years of life. They serve as fearsome guardians, but also as caring and gentle leaders for the young they find.

These families usually last long after the chicks have grown into full sized adults. The unit will migrate together and share information freely.
