TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

Sounds like Hemlock has gone off to make her own stone hollow (with blackjack and hookers?).
Or maybe she's taken her most aggressive followers off to keep the stone hollow safe by waging a guerrilla war against all predators, just start trying to wipe them out anywhere she finds them.

Well at least Hemlock is not going alone. That she might have halfed their defenses in the process is not optimal, butit was to be expected. She and Oren were at each others throats for a time and it would have gotten worse. Now it is a cleaner thing in a way. And she will keep tabs on the Hollow after all she needs to brag about her being right to Oren when "his Utopia of now Predator and Prey" fails.
Of course the rest of the hollow will now have to swallow the nastiest pill in history. Not only did they loose their only line of defense against the wolvesas Sprigg no longer marks the trees, but they will now learn that Rask wants to bring Predators into their midsts. Not a good starting point when you just lost part of your fighting force.
