My aphonopelma hentzi tarantula Slowmo came to me three years ago in a raffle. I've never seen a more sedantary creature, believe me he earned his name! He even managed to take his time maturing - three years after I got him he molted for the first time in my care - and came out of it with some extra equipment that marked him as a mature male.
Knowing Slowmo I fully expected him to take another year or something to start building his sperm web (a special web in which males deposit sperm packets) but no, he started it yesterday. Here he is standing on it, its hard to see but there is a web there.
Slowmo is going to a new owner next month, someone with a female hentzi. I wish him luck, and the energy to book it if his new girlfriend gets hungry after mating, lol.

Tarantulas are neat to look at and watch. I love them in their cages... I'm alright with them hanging out on their owner's hands, lap, or just their person.... however... let him loose and I'll freak. XD Also putting him on me would be certain death of the spider. >; x ;<
