Jack: Yes but again, that is different. Lieven is referring to that one specific fact about the Catholic Church selling beer in Belgium. There was a scene in the Bible where Christ overturned the tables of the moneychargers in church. Stuff like this is why back then, Christianity developed into different sects. The formation of the Church of England goes way beyond Henry VIII's desire to legalize divorce so he can marry the women of his choice in hopes that he can have a son to carry on his legacy. Then later, the Puritans came to America to avoid persecution in England because they believed that churches should not be puppets of the government and that people have the right to communicate with God directly.

Chuong: No wonder why the Catholic countries were warring heavily against England back then. That also explains France's rivalry against England too.

Lieven: You do have a point there; wine back then isn't necessarily the same as wine today, but I still can't stand people drinking it just to get drunk. Beer is the drink that bothers me the most, however.
