A while back I had the random idea of having an interplanetary culinary show, sorta like how Food Network had those shows where people would try food from around the world--but IN SPACE.

I think a space hamster/gerbil would be the perfect host for such a show, which would have a title that translates weirdly into Galactic Common so the name of the show would be "Edible Planets" or something mildly unsettling like that.

Also there's a fair chance that they'd arrive and just start eating non-food items like pine cones or fallen leaves or some shit, leaving the locals very confused by how a species mastered interstellar flight, FTL propulsion, and a myriad of other scientific advancements... Just to show up and start eating yard waste.
I guess it's kinda hard to get a spaceship through the drive-thru at a McDonald's, though...

stuff would certainly get interesting if some aliens eat other aliens 👀

I would very much enjoy watching someone eat a pine cone. reminds me of shoenice and the LA beast eating cacti <3

Mixing actual predator/prey relationships into already complicated interspecies relations is an interesting concept. I think I mentioned before that I have worlds that just have several sapient species that might even eat each other, and the idea that the pudgy hyena kid would wind up in detention because he bit off some zebra kid's arm isn't entirely outside the realm of possibility. Equal parts dark and humorous I suppose.

Interplanetary challenge eating would be WILD because of the differences in what any given species can and can't eat. Just look at Earth and how most animals get very sick if they eat chocolate and can't digest lactose, and then just to flex on them, humans make chocolate ice cream with chocolate chunks in it.
