Next time you ask someone for directions, specify that you'd like the fastest route without the feeling of your muscles giving out.
"Yea, I know the fastest way there. Just follow me" he told you before walking right past you (good thing you asked for directions) and beckoning for you to follow.
What he didn't say was it was in the middle of Timbuctoo, hot as hell, and required you to scale a cliff.
Now you feel on the verge of collapse with a three-story drop below.
"Look it's either this or we take an hour trip around the other side," Barry informed you.
Hour?! Your other route was supposed to be forty minutes from where you started.
"Well, you put some oomph in it and this'll only take 10 minutes. How's that sound, partner?"
The drop is your main concern.
"I thought speed was your main concern?"
You glare at the dog as if you're trying to sew his mouth shut with your mind.
"You'll be fine. It's a free climb. She's a sturdy one!" Barry smacks the rock to demonstrate.
To be completely fair, he was right. You haven't come close to losing your balance or footing. You're physical strength, however, is threatening to ruin this shortcut for you. Your body, legs especially, just want to give out at this point. But you're almost there and don't want to give up so close. Or fall. That's bad too.
Your guide reaches the top and dusts his hands off before taking a glance around. He begins to bounce lightly on his toes while whistling a light melody through the air. After a few more agonizing seconds, Barry seems to remember your existence and you see his royal blue eyes turn back towards you.
"You good?"
You don't respond, preferring to save your energy.
"Don't slow down on me now, partner. We're almost there! Here, need a hand?"
He extends his hand down towards you which you graciously accept. His help is enough to pull you over rather easily. Once you hit the ground, exhaustion takes away your will to move.
You ask him for 5 minutes to rest.
"Sure thing. Just don't be late."
You close your eyes and then immediately pass out.
