oh hey did i forget to mention that i cast this thing in silicone? i think i did forget. it's been almost an year since that got done. i guess i thought i would finish it sooner?
it still needs a proper paint job (the paint mix i was trying earlier kind of sucked, absolutely no color in it at all, i needed to use proper silicone pigment!) and some hair and some acrylic teeth. it still needs a lot of love, since it's such an experiment.
actually, getting this far was a pain in the ass, it's not like anyone i knew had ever used foam silicone before, and i wasted a bunch of money getting to this point even but yeah, actually, so far so good! anyway, the outside is a thin skin of dragon skin silicone, and to make it lighter, i played around with some foam silicone (specifically smooth-on's soma foama) and wow, when it's all cured it the thing feels so eerily like flesh that you can't help but squeeze it.
anyway, the thing has been a huge hit so far, it's appeared in a few student projects even. i was going to wear it last halloween but that didn't come through as planned. maybe this year? it'll eventually become a part of a certain character suit that you may be aware of, once i can get a bigger workshop space. :)
unfortunately i can't make any more runs of these as the mould broke when i cast it the first time. so... it's one of a kind. yikes!

If you ever got production of these types of masks going you would have quite a market with us furs. Ive been waiting for a silicone mask company such as composite effects to come out with some anthro masks (that don't look like horror masks) and paws and I would be ordering in a heartbeat.
I was just talking to a friend of mine about how talented you are. Not in a normal way either, you're like a time machine, back to when gay culture was still forming. You have your ways and you're good at them. People like you forged the path for a generation. You being you is a great thing.
It looks really cool unpainted. There could be a whole story to the mask that was being made, and as the mask maker pondered how to paint the mask, it seemed as if the mask began to move on its own, and then speak. He broke the mold and then...simply disappeared, leaving the mask unpainted.
This way it also seems more suggestive of some sort of synthetic lifeform.

It's kinda intimidating to see a talented 2D artist's forays into the 3D realm--
If they're spectacular, the artist is spectacular. BUt if they aren't that good, you can tell the artist has failings...
Looking at yours, I'm blown away. No wonder it's so popular, it's the first masterpiece of many.
