Even she couldn't say if the crown she wore was a physical object. She had held it in her hands, placed it on her head, and could 'feel' it in the most significant sense of the word. Yet, the thing shimmered and shown with a light that held no source save for itself, and let her see beyond what mortal senses would allow. Living with Heartsong had opened Kaycee's eyes to things and ideas that simply couldn't fit within the normal three dimensions, but the faerie crown upon her brow showed her things beyond even that. Her eyes glistened with their own light, focusing beyond the veil, and she started to grin.

"Long live the queen..."

So, a bit of backstory that... I'm not sure I've covered here. Basically, a story arc (for lack of a better term) I've worked on for Kaycee is that she's searching for various artifacts from a faerie queen that has long since vanished from her world. The violin that she found that lets her grow is one of them, and this pic more or less describes her finding the queen's crown. The eventual idea is for her to take the absent queen's place, but that's a long way off. I hope to write about it eventually, but I'm struggling to do that; sorry.
