Of note is that it's been over a decade since I played the game and thus I'd completely forgotten that Link and his gramps literally live -in- the blacksmith shop and not a separate house, but I'd liked what I'd written and didn't wanna redo it.

This is so well written; I'm starving for more. This really surprised me though, given the content of some of your art up to this point. Vaati's nightmares and nervousness over being called out for knowing the Picori language, in particular. I had interpreted your ideas as more of a second chance type of scenario, so it's a pleasant change of pace to see your version never lost his innocence in the first place. However innocent bastard, goblin-child teenagers can be. ; p
Quick addendum: Did he get jumped the second he turned Hylian-sized? Is that why he went back to that stump to get his bearings?

As much as I love the huggy saccharine shit I had to keep him a little bastard, too, v imporant part of his character and makes a great dynamic with Link.
He basically took the cap for a joyride in the glade when they jumped him. He fought back but they managed to grab it and he went "Oh shit oh fuck I can't tell Dad I'm gonna be in so much trouble fffffffffffffffffffff-" and went to find someone tobully ask for help.

I'm actually playing the game now and yeah Vaati is my favorite. This story is just so good! The writing and flow is superb and I do hope you continue this tale. If you ever post it on other platforms like Ao3 or Fanfiction.net let me know please so I can favorite there
Hah, I dunno that I'd post it on any kind of fanfiction site, I try to keep my cringe mostly contained, but I appreciate the enthusiasm That said, I unfortunately haven't managed to write much else, at least nothing finished enough to share. Lots of little snippets, nothing complete, RIP.
