Zinc... You have to be AWARE OF THE DANGERS FOR PARADE BALLOONS, BOTH WELL-KNOWN AND HIDDEN ONES. During the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, a lot of the parade balloons used have to face many dangers - Pointy objects such as light poles and balconies can rupture the balloons. HOWEVER, PARADE BALLOONS ARE ALSO HIGHLY VULNERABLE TO WINDSHEAR. Even if there is NO wind, the building's close proximity to each other can create EXTREMELY POWERFUL WIND CURRENTS THAT CAN CAUSE THE BALLOONS TO POP. IF A PARADE BALLOON IS POPPED DURING THE PARADE, THE BALLOON HAS TO BE WRITTEN OFF COMPLETELY - MODERN PARADE BALLOONS ARE MADE OF POLYURETHANE, EARLY PARADE BALLOONS WERE MADE OF SEWN RUBBER: IF A POLYURETHANE-SKINNED PARADE BALLOON POPS, IT CAN NOT BE FIXED - BUT IF THE POLYURETHANE-SKINNED BALLOON CAN BE FIXED IT WILL QUITE A WHILE BEFORE IT CAN RETURN TO THE PARADE.
