============================
Its been about three months since Melissa settled in Paranak. To her, it was one of the best decisions she ever made in her life. And considering what she found out about her girlfriend, Kaelia, what was great just kept getting better. It didn't take Melissa very long to find herself a new job within the city, with her years of experience landing her in a conformable position inside a cozy government job involving urban planning. Unlike her time offworld, many of her new co-workers were ambitious and full of optimism. Though many of them came off as clumsy daydreamers, they all knew how to get things done.
As Melissa could tell, the capital city itself was nicely built, with its shining urban streets well organized and free. Unlike the nightmarish “cyberpunk” cities on other planets who were often run by corrupt and careless individuals. Paranak had a sense of energy that Melissa didn't feel anywhere else in the known galaxy. It was rather off-putting if Melissa was, to be honest with herself. She figured all that Paranak showed was too good to be true. That or she was being cynical, with the scum and villainy of the galaxy finally getting to her. And there's Kaelia and her odd dreams coming true. Was she part of some experiment? Or was she chosen by some divine intervention? Maybe she's a witch now? That isn't really like her, she's never been the occultist type. Nor the religious type. And Melissa knew Kaelia was too shy to get involved in some government or corporate experiment. Not that Melissa could imagine why either of them would want a harmless, innocent woman turned into a snake hybrid.
The only flaw Melissa noticed was from the higher-ups within her job. They were old, conservative like Urakais without much imagination. While she and the younger people were building up the city and the surrounding countryside, these old men and women just advertised the place. Saying how Paranak was a paradise with nothing unusual about it. Boring. And while they were skeptical about having a human among their ranks, Melissa didn't see any true malice in their observations. Plus there was the Duke of Paranak, who she never met personally but heard a lot about. As far as she could tell, the Duke was treating Paranak like a vanity project. A recently colonized planet that'll show how great the Kingdom of the Urakais truly is.
She only hoped that Paranak's innocent could last. But for now, she wasn't that interested in greater politics. She wanted to go home to see Kaelia.
=========================
After work, when both Melissa got home and Kaelia returned from her zoology job. They would both go out in the countryside and visit a secluded beach that Kaelia knew about for a while. It was a bit off from the roads, and to the untrained eye, it seemed impossible to get to. Melissa first thought she would be going through thick vines and bushes just to reach the place. But Kaelia, being a natural with “hiking” in the jungle even without her snake form, was a natural. It wasn't until they both got to the beach that Kaelia started to transform into her snake form. Replacing her pants with a towel. But even then, the “naughty” bits on the snake half were hardly noticeable without the towel.
Knowing how shy Kaelia could be, she still kept her swimsuit bra on. Even if Melissa knew she would prefer to be topless. Even when nobody was around, the outdoors were too public. But she figured Kaelia was still being shy about her, even if she didn't like to admit it. Melissa in the meanwhile wore a much less liberal swimsuit. Much more practical for swimming.
The two would race each other to the waters, even if Kaelia beat her to the end with her face serpent movement and a smooth lunge into the waters. She even had Melissa beaten when it comes to swimming both above and underwater. To make things even more unfair, she didn't even need to hold her breath! As the two went more out to sea, Melissa just wanted to watch Kaelia as she gracefully swam. The way her tail twists and twirls under the water. Her natural orange scales gleaming in the light while her hair flowed outward. To match her, Melissa would have to get a fake mermaid tail, and even then, she could not match Kaelia's grace. While Melissa found some dry rocks to rest by the shore, Kaelia enjoyed her time swimming, lunging out of the water with her head pointed towards the sky. Her hair wiping outward as drips of water flew into the air. The fact that Melissa could see Kaelia look so happy while doing so almost brought tears to her eyes. But more so, she was a bit envious.
After their swimming fun, the two washed up to shore, lying down and resting in the warm sands as they looked up towards the late afternoon sky. They both cuddled up together, with Melissa asking Kaelia to wrap her tail around her. She was happy to comply as she spread out her tail, leaving the ends of it wrapped around Melissa. Though her tail had scales, it didn't seem reptilian. Her tail was soft and warm, much like resting upon her human skin. Melissa felt more at home as she felt Kaelia's tail muscles slightly tighten. Placing a hand on the scales and softly caressing it, she hears Kaelia give a soft moan. Kaelia too placed her hand on her own tail.
“Kaelia, I want to admit something,” Melissa said while Kaelia looked at her with a smile,
“I'm jealous.”
Kaelia's smile turned to slight worry, “Jealous?”
Melissa realized that her words were poorly chosen, even if they were true. She tried to make Kealia smile again by saying, “I mean...”
“What are you jealous of?” Kaelia asked while Melissa tried to figure out what to say.
“I'm jealous of you.”
“Me? But why?” Kaelia asked softly like a child who was in trouble. It should have been obvious what Melissa meant. But as smart as Kaelia was, she could be so naive.
“I...” Melissa struggled, looking down at Kaelia's nervous tail. “I'm jealous of your beauty.”
Kaelia's worry turned back into a smile, blushing. “Oh, you!”
“No, I'm serious!” Melissa responded, “You're so beautiful, Kaelia. More so now that I see how truly happy you are. I want to feel that happiness too. I want what you have.”
“What I have?”
“Yes,” Melissa smiled with a blush, stroking Kealia's tail, “I want a tail too. I want to be just like you. Can you tell me how?”
As a tear ran down Kaelia's cheek, she moved to kiss Melissa. Holding her tight with a coil and a hug. Softly, she said, “I wanted you to ask me that. And yes, I know how to give you a tail.”
