layering synths.... processing the frequencies separately (giving the highs waveshaping, mids distortion/drive stuff like that).... fm modulation (just because)... Resampling (bouncing a bass sound to wav/mp3 and running through fx/filter again and/or layering)... and... filters... and ... overdrive and hard limiting (so the sound is constant) maybe thow in a vocoder..... a SMALL amount of chorus/detune
sometimes ill make an fx chain... and then run some other weird samples through it to see what that sounds like... all ways to get cool stuff
