You're right, sharks are Altair's favorite animal and she likes to boop their snoots, however she's neutral to whales. Neutral means that she respects them as much as any other wildlife, but they're nothing really special and she doesn't care to interact with them.
I forgot that FA doesn't upload the images at full resolution, but if you check the full size image ( https://d.furaffinity.net/art/altai.....perm_whale.jpg ) , you'll notice that Altair face shows everything but happiness.
