We on Monday had 17 Kites outside. We were down to 9 today because it's been release week for these guys. 5 of the 9 could be released today the other 4 aren't ready to go so they'll be wintering with us. So we went to catch them so the people we invited to release them could do so this morning. Well basically we chase them from one side and the person on the other side nets them when they land.
I couldn't really net him where he landed though.
So yea, Mississippi Kite used me as his landing zone this morning. Took this with my cell phone while I waited for my boss to walk across the flight cage and pull him off of my shirt.
I really hope one of the Great Horned Owls or a Hawk doesn't try this though. Seriously.

That's why I'm reluctant to get an African Gray. They are super difficult to keep sane, and I'm at college too often. So, for now I'm happy with my Senegal. :D
I think a cockatoo would be awesome to have, too, but I'll have to see if I have the time and money in the future to invest in such awesome birds.

My uncle Paul has a Cockatoo named Ted. I can enjoy Ted's company only in fifteen minute increments. Ted is often moody, demanding, unbelievably loud, attention-seeking, and wantonly destructive. If someone is not devoting near all of their attention to him at all times, he is bored, angry, or destroying something. He rips holes in things with his beak, including people's faces, the trim on Paul's car, linoleum floor, bills and checks. He seldom bites people when he's not agitated, but his mood can turn on a dime, like a toddler's. I cannot imagine providing that much emotional support to another living creature without any hope of improvement year after year. You are smart to consider how much time these animals take, it's an extensive investment.
