Commander Vaden Reginald a cisgender male Laeron born on Aerea, his family moved from Aerea to Otvar when he was 11.

The young Reginald did not take well to this new world, finding the coldness of Otvar pervasive, and the experience of being a stranger on a different world isolating, with only his family and a scant few other Laeron to share the experience with. He resented being dragged from his life on Aerea, and began to act up at school. It was further exacerbated when his mother and father divorced, due to infidelity on his father’s part.

Seeking a place to feel that he belonged on a world he’d never warmed to, soon after his eighteenth birthday, a friend recommended he join a clan, like those on Orran. As a result of this Reginald joined the Otvarian Vaden Clan, the mix of species that made up the clan, and the equal standing they stood on within the clan appealed to him, and the atmosphere within that group helped him finally settle down.

He was so grateful to the clan that he had no hesitation in following the tradition within the clans of giving up his original surname and taking the clan's name in its place. While his mother broadly supported him, happy that he was finally settling down, his already strained relationship with his father totally broke down, as it was his father’s family name he had given up.

At 20 he became a member Otvar's Capital Police Force and began what was described as a promising career in the force. Rising to become a low ranking detective, at the age of 25 he was headhunted for the Otvar Colony Commission's Law Enforcement Branch, the Kosmolitsa, a top law enforcement agency who took the best from the domestic forces, and oversaw law and order in the Colony worlds of the Otvar Commonwealth. Reginald was assigned to a post out on one of the frontier stations orbiting the planet Stava.

While working in The Kosmolitsa, he met Captain Saladin Fahlia, a privateer of some repute in the frontier and former Baron of The Imperial Navy. What began as an amicable working relationship between an Officer and a Bounty Hunter eventually became romantic, though the strain of being on the opposite side of the law wore them down over time, that on top of other stressors, causing their unfortunate split.

He resigned in his post with the Kosmolitsa at the age of 28, after being ordered by the OCC to halt an investigation into corruption against his commanding officer, disgusted with the corruption he had found, and the fact that the OCC wanted to cover it up, rather than expose it.

After leaving the Kosmolitsa, he joined the Steadfast, a ship captained by his former lover Saladin Fahlia, with whom he had maintained a close friendship. She took him into her crew gladly, and installed him as her XO.

During the period that followed, Reginald met his current partner, Josephine Burnham, a mechanic from the Scaddan Flotilla. They initially bonded over the state of their own respective lives, Him from a job that had become a way of life he had thought so highly of, but had turned out to be hollow and false, and her, her separation from her own people and their way of life. From those quiet conversations in the dead of night, something real and meaningful had been stoked in the two of them. It was when she kissed him on the beak, and asked him to dinner, he just knew she was the one. They’re now besotted with each other, nigh inseparable, and since their one year anniversary, engaged to be married.
