Heh...my local paper is called the "Daily News" (http://dnews.com) and they put out about that caliber of story too, let me tell you.

Ooh, today's headline - a f*ing gallery is almost done...

Local stories are what keep most small papers afloat, as their audience doesn't have many other sources from which to receive it. If they wanted big, national news, they could just pick up the New York Times turn on CNN. If your local news is boring, it only means one thing: You haven't been setting enough fires, have you. >: 3

Trust me, our local news is boring because the paper doesn't have the balls to shake things up. This area is so corrupt its not funny. We have cops who regularly harass people for race, sexual orientation, political viewpoints, disability and who give out speeding tickets while every other kind of safety and traffic violation goes unchecked. We have lazy bureaucrats who do nothing and harass people. We have drug dealers who work WITH cops.

It's small town, right wing hypocritical ideology run amock up here. Our news is boring because it is the news that those who run the show want us to read. It's like living in a land of Rupert Murdoch's design, and it sucks.

Yeesh; that sounds rough. Just out of curiosity, have you or anyone you know confronted the paper about these issues, either in a letter to the editor or by visiting the news office? If so, what kind of response did you receive?
