Sam Trivia

• Honestly, Sam started out as a "girl pretending to be a guy" and I got to RP out him coming to terms with being trans, and his eventual transition. I didn't actually set out with the intention of making a trans man character, but it felt right!
• His original backstory was fleeing an arranged marriage, but honestly, "Seek vengeance on your charlatan, pirate father" is just way cooler.
• We love a good revenge backstory.
• Sam is incredibly flat in affect and keeps his emoting under intense control; it started as an attempt to make himself look more masculine, but now it's mostly to keep his more negative emotions and desires under control.
• Like his father, he's got the capacity to be really cruel. Unlike his father, he puts a lot of effort into keeping himself kind, or at least neutral.
• Avast, ye; he liked the accent he picked up as a sailor too much to drop it and he still talks like that more often than not.
• ...until he gets surprised and it's all Booty Bay Goblin underneath!
• An avid reader, he will all but devour any book offered to him.
• Flirting is one of his favorite ways to spend time, but he's far more interested in the game than the prize.
• The physical part of his transition is thanks to his own magic, but honestly he didn't change his neck-up appearance very much at all. Gender swap potions and spells outwardly look to have no effect on him, which is hilarious all on its own.
• Before he transitioned he stuck to oversized shirts and a heavy coat and practically swam in his clothes.
• These days, it's mostly mage robes, and it's been a while since he's worn his big ol' sailor coat.
• He's got no problem flirting with larger races when the mood strikes him, as his most recent daliances with his troll traveling companion/friend-with-benefits has shown!
• I originally rolled him as "Coppersnout" in game, and it took a while before I came up with the "Jettesam" to switch his first name to— it was just "Sam" before that!
