Takata is the third born child of King Ahadi. While her older half-brother Mufasa is destined to become the future king and her littermate brother Askari is trained to be the next leader of the Lion Guard, Takata ends up finding her own niche in the pride as a huntress. She manages to take down a full-grown zebra during her first solo hunt, and after honing her skills some more she ends up becoming the chief huntress of the Pridelands' hunting party.
While Takata did care about her two brothers, she was often more focused on her hunting duties to spend a lot of time with them. But whenever she had enough free time, she would often hang out with Jelani, the strongest member of her brother Askari's guard. The two of them eventually fell in love and decided to become mates. But the two of them weren't destined to be together forever as one day Askari -who had since decided to go by the name "Scar"- returned to the pride with some grim news. The other members of his guard, including Jelani, were killed in a freak landslide. Chenza, a good friend of hers who had been witht them at the time, was believed to have perished alongside them as well. Takata was devestated to say the least, and she refused to come out of the den and hunt with everyone else for several days afterwards. But she soon finds a reason to keep going as she finds out that she's pregnant with Jelani's cubs. She later ends up giving birth to three cubs: two daughters named Tama ans Makena and a son named Hamidi. Jelani may have died too soon, but at least he would live on in his children.
Takata always made sure to spend time with her three cubs when she wasn't out hunting. Her three cubs end up being quite the handful as Makena and Hamidi were a little cocky at times while Tama ends up being quite the tomboy, but she still loved them all the same. She was happy with how things were, but things later take a dark turn when Scar comes home from the gorge one day with some horrible news: their brother Mufasa and his son Prince Simba had both died in a stampede. Things were tough during her brother Scar's reign as not only did she now have to hunt for several hyenas that he allowed into the lands, but they devoured just about everything her hunting party brought back and barely left enough food for everyone else. Seeing that his uncle wasn't doing a good job of ruling the place, Takata's son Hamidi opted to restart the Lion Guard along with four other males named Mwitu, Radhi, Chumvi and Tojo, hoping to overthrow Scar. But Scar quickly learns of their little plot and has them all banished for treason. Disgusted with her brother, Takata opts to go with them to ensure that they would be okay. Her two daughters object to this, but Takata assures them that she would be okay.
After their exile, Takata leads her son and his friends to the other side of the mountains to find the Msingi Pride, where they are fortunately excepted in. Takata pleads with with pride's ruler King Khalfani to assemble an army to overthrow Scar, but he declines. If the land was truly in as bad of a state that Takata claimed it was in, then it wasn't worth saving. Frustrated, Takata opts to train her son and his friends instead. If no one would help them save their home, then they would just have to do it themselves.
While she was training her small army, Takata ends up coming face to face a lion that she had long since died: her friend Chenza. Apparently, he had miraculously survived Scar's attack on his guard, but suffered a blow to the head and got amnesia as a result. He was taken in by the Msingi and was dubbed Wamesahau, and had adopted a daughter named Zahara. Takata helps him jog his memory and promptly introduces him to his son Mwitu, who had been born after his disappearance. Once they were ready, Takata, Chenza and the five males prepare to head to the Pridelands to overthrow Scar. But before they could leave, they had heard some surprising news.. Mufasa's son Simba, long presumed to be dead, had returned to the Pridelands and overthrew Scar, taking his rightful place on the throne. And it's from him that they learn Scar was behind the untimely death of Mufasa. For Chenza and Takata it was a bittersweet ocassion as Chenza learns from his daughter Nala that his mate Sarafina had died during Scar's reign, and Takata was disgusted that her own twin had killed their brother just because he wanted to be king.
Mwitu and Radhi return to their respective families in the Pridelands, while her son Hamidi opts to go roving while promising to keep in touch. Tojo and Chumvi opt to stay with their new friends in the Msingi Pride and Chenza chooses to stay there as well, not seeing much of a reason to return to the Pridelands now that Sarafina was gone. Having also lost a mate due to Scar's actions, Takata understoon how he felt and offered to stay with him. The two lions spend the rest of their lives together in the Msingi Pride, ocassionally going to visit their respective children and grandchildren in the Pridelands.
Surprise! I decided to give Mufasa and Scar a sister! I've actually had this sitting in sta.sh for a while and I just now decided to upload it.
Also, you'll notice that I gave her a name that sounds similar to "Taka", which was Scar's birth name according to that one Six New Adventures book. I've decided to now use the birth name that Ford Riley gave Scar because I think it makes more sense than him having a name that can be translated out to "trash". =P (Razz)
