These arthropods were pretty successful during the palezoic, still today, new fossils of new species are found regularly, an extinction event during the Cambrian-Ordovician extinctions made them decrease their numbers and never recovered their former diversity.
Trilobites finally went extinct during the permian great dying extinction event, the worst extinction event with the extinction of 57% of biological families, 83% of genera, 81% of marine species and 70% of terrestrial vertebrate species.
Their legacy and diversity are one of the most known paleontology discoveries, depicted in this second day of Paleotobery.
