And here is my (poorly drawn) example of how to do this meme. I hope this gives everyone an idea of what you're supposed to do, though this is by no means the only way. =P Which I'm sure you all know. On another note, drawing with a tablet is quite the experience.
(Also, someone please let me know if I need to change the rating. <.<;; Number 7 makes me wonder if I need to bump this up to Mature.)
I call this guy Generic Furry because that's what he is. =P Maybe when I get better at drawing, I'll try it with a real character.
In order from left to right:
1. Generic Furry poses as his evil self in the Star Trek Mirror Universe.
2. Generic Furry wears a tux at a Greek wedding and gets in the spirit of things.
3. Generic Furry learns why using the Stargate for free vacations is a bad idea.
4. Generic Furry poses as Sly Cooper. Five minutes later, Carmelita has him in jail.
5. GenericFurry Overlord finds that being evil can be good.
6. Generic Furry finds life as a Jagerkin to his liking.
7. Generic Furry stars in the sequel to Fur and Loathing.
8. Generic Furry finds out he's "special"... but not in That Way.
9. Generic Furry is a bit confused over the results of combining Stitchpunk and furries.

I blame Meyer. XD
It depends... all supernatural races have undergone persecution of some sort in literature or film - the fae were treated as cute li'l pixies for a long time, when in actual lore they're the unforgiving Seelie and Unseelie we know and love... Vampires have been degraded from being one of the most feared villains to being nothing more than teen fantasy, while at the same time there are some who'd portray them as any other race - some are good and some are bad - and actually do it well. I think it's more that literature and film don't get the respect they deserve anymore, because there's plenty out there that's decent and treats all beings equally in lore and in fact, it's just that too many teens and children don't give a crap about what they read anymore... they want something easy.

True enough. Me, though, I just want something where werewolves are the protagonists, and are shown more to be heroes or "regular folk" like you said. Too many have them as evil monsters or unable to control themselves. Often both. It bugs me for some reason.
Also, the whole "vampires vs. werewolves" thing is not only a dead horse, but a grease stain upon the floor. =P

Well, there's a fantasy-romance series I read that's got a plot and murders, fae existing in our world openly, etc, etc, etc if you're interested... a lot of sex, one of the girls is polygamous, so she ends up with three husbands, but the middle child is a were-cat, and there's an entire pack of were-cats, and then there's a werewolf who bartends where the youngest sister works, and he has a sister... he was cast out of his pack, so there's some wolfie stuff going on, and there may be more in the future. It has a Kitsune, a Dragon, a witch - human/fae, a vampire - human/fae-turned-vamp, were-tabby/panther - human/fae, a couple sex demons, a Vampires Anonymous group, a crossdresser, etc... it's pretty good. Again, it's part romance, so there's a lot of sex, but it has a plot and is good with character development and whatnot too. Not as good as Dresden, but nice if you want a light read that isn't crap. XD
Sounds complicated. =P I'm a bit leery of romance novels though. As a writer, plot and characterization are important to me, and it's hard to read something where those parts are suffering. And though I've never read one myself, I have heard how bad romance novels can be. =P
Doesn't matter though. I have quite a few werewolf books to look for, thanks to a search at a bookstore a couple months back. I only have to track them down.
