I painted this a month or so ago as a gift for a pair of good friends.
Back in July, they had to say their last goodbyes to a member of their family, Rio, the Original Sofawolf. She was a sweet old girl, with the cutest ears you'd ever seen on a husky!

Thanks so much for this guys! You captured her so very well and we are sure she's flattered. She always enjoyed your visits and all the praise you heaped on her ears. (The vet also mentioned her lovely, lovely ears...)

Beautiful. I try not to think about it too often, but because our lives are so much longer than those of our canine friends, it's always in the back of my mind that one day I'm going to lose my beloved dog. He's a husky, just like Rio but red instead of black and white, and his blue/brown eyes are on the opposite sides. And he sits on the couch with me just like that, he sleeps on my bed with me at night, and he loves me completely and unconditionally.
I feel the pain of loss for the Sofawolf guys, and I'm glad at least that you have this beautiful painting to remember Rio by. We should all be so lucky, right? My husky Rex and I will light a candle tonight and send you some woo-woos.

I have always told friends who have lost a loved companion that they will live on in their memories and dreams, as do my own companions.
A fitting tribute to a lifetime of unconditional love and devotion.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your wonderful tribute to Rio. It's a wonderful picture of her, and still makes me mist up a bit when I see it.
We're glad that you got to meet her and scritch her soft teddy-bear ears, and that your pups got to meet her -- even though they spent most of their time tearing around the yard with Wizard, while Rio officiated from up on the patio.
