Be careful, someone's WATCHING YOU
Chasing you down from behind.
Look back and you lose.
The path that you chose to walk, more than anything else
Is better to be chosen, even if you get hurt
Until I'm beat, I will take flight
Enough so that my life will be as if on fire
BURNING HEART, BURNING HEART
This is my dream
FLYING HIGH, FLYING HIGH
I wont hand it over
The burning horizon
I'll bet everything on your DEAD HEAT
I LOVE YOU!

Clint dressed as the XD-01 Dragonar-1 from the 80s mecha anime "Metal Armor Dragonar." Its later upgraded to the more commonly recognized XDFU-01 Dragonar-1 Lifter... so yeah, I was too lazy to put the Lifter parts on Clint.
Since Kin was dressed as the L-Gaim Mk I, I figured that Clint should be dressed as another 80s mech. I thought of using SPT Layzner but I couldnt remember much of the details on it, so I settled on Dragonar-1.

I'm aware of it, but he was still commissioned BY SUNRISE for a new show with being a replacement in mind. Might have been Sunrise's goal, but the show was still Tomino's brain-child.
The only thing that kept it from happening was cuz audience identified better with Gundam. It's often how things go. At least Tomino developed gundam very well, even thou he had some serious breakdowns while doing it (Z and V Gundam as examples).

Well, except that Tomino had nothing to do with the show. ^^; He was too busy with the latter part of production for Gundam ZZ, and possibly the early stages of work on Char's Counterattack, to work on something like that.
The director was Takeyuki Kanda and the series writer was Yoshitake Suzuki (as Fuyunori Gobu).

Dude it was still his work, he always makes comments on it and how he was absurdly pressured with deadlines (like most gundams he worked with) I remember reading an interview of him commenting about how he hated that time and got super depressed. V Gundam is one of his "Kill 'em All" series. I'm literally dead sure that he had lots to do with the production.
