Honey Mushrooms on Toast
Ingredients
1kg of your favourite mushrooms (I had Swiss Brown)
50g – 75g unsalted butter
2 tbsp honey
2tsp mixture of ground salt, pepper and mustard seed
Toasted bread to serve on
Method
Brush or Peel mushrooms and slice thinly.
Put butter in pan and allow the butter to melt on low heat.
Pile in the mushrooms and stir gently.
Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Stir gently and cook uncovered for a further 5 minutes or until mushrooms have changed colour and are soft.
Evenly sprinkle with ground salt, pepper, mustard mix.
Add honey.
Stir well.
Serve on freshly toasted bread of your choice.
Other Uses
This mixture can also be put into a blender and made into a puree which is good to use as a sauce on any meat of your choosing.
It can be frozen into small lots for later use.
It can turned into a soup with the addition of 1 cup of stock and blended (thickening may be required).
