Anargyros is a Shardunai that found out about the true origins of where their "Gods" came from. The news was shocking and hurt him deeply. But when he tried to bring it to the attention of the oracles he was shunned and called a heretic. When he tried to show the people the truth of just what the people have been putting so much faith in. The oracles sent guardians to destroy his proof and "remove" Anargyros from their city. Anargyros was barely able to escape with his life by swimming deeper into the depths of the ocean but now he was alone and isolated from other Shardunai, exiled with no chance to return. But then he saw a couple other Shardunai that followed him into the depths, some that wanted to put their trust in his words, not wanting to pray to a god that never cared for them.

And that is how the Renegade Shardunai were formed, but then again, maybe they were formed earlier and they just didnt realize it.
