Hundreds of years ago, Fairy Dragons were feared by other dragons. Magic was not something dragons could normally wield, yet Fairy Dragons were creatures who were born with natural magic infused within them, allowing them to cast quite deadly magic without any such training. But as the years passed and peace began to blossom among the dragons, the need for such terrible magic began to falter, and soon Fairy Dragons would only use the magic within them to levitate and fly, their wings naturally being too small to lift them up.
But that history would be forgotten, along with dangerous magics, and as time moved on, Fairy Dragons would be frequently mocked by other dragons, rather than feared or respected. Fairy Dragons no longer had any idea of the potential they had, and they were very frail in comparison to every other dragon.
Maypop was one such Fairy Dragon, who was made fun of frequently. She wasn't a shy child by any means, in fact she would spit vitriol back at them ten times harder, but this would usually result in her getting into trouble, either by getting told on, or by getting beaten to a pulp. She wasn't afraid to be edgy or offensive to anyone who tried to mock her, which was a quality a lot of people liked about her. Unlike other Fairy Dragons who has just tried to bottle themselves up and take it in stride, Maypop wanted change to this status quo.
When she was in her late teens, both of her parents died suddenly in the night, and all of the large, monstrous butlers that worked for them completely disappeared. While she did inherit the huge quantity of wealth left behind, Maypop was extremely confused, as Fairy Dragons live the longest and due to their magical properties tend to not succumb to disease. This event lead a lot of the town to believe Maypop was the one to kill them, given the sheer amount of gold she inherited. A lot of her old friends believed this and refused to speak with her again. Despite being told their deaths were natural, Maypop vowed to get to the bottom of what killed them both, to not only be at peace, but to rub it into the faces of the friends who abandoned her.
She spent many years alone, her drive to solve the mystery keeping her going. She was starting to become a little mad, turning up many dead ends and never getting any resolution. It began to slowly stew a deep hatred for the world around her, her initial goal of relishing in the mockery of the world for accusing her turning into the desire for retribution.
One day, she wanted to check in on something related to their family's history, some treasure tucked in ruins hundreds of miles away. This treasure was a golden scroll, one that contained knowledge of an ancient magic that was long forgotten. But as she attempted to open it, she was bound by an unknown force that would speak to her. The spirit of an elder Fairy Dragon spoke to her, and left a power and a curse upon her. She would have the knowledge to summon large, powerful beasts that would fulfill her every whim, but her life span would be cut drastically short. She was transported outside of the ruins, that had now sealed themselves, and now understood what became of her parents.
Now that her lifespan was diminishing and she had gotten to the bottom of it all, the feeling of being isolated struck her. She summoned the ogre-like creatures, and her first course of action was to have them find a way to remove the curse. After looking through her parent's paperwork, she found information on a potion that wouldn't remove the curse, but quadruple the lifespan of any who drunk a portion. They were missing one singular ingredient: 'Demon's blood'.
This caused Maypop to look deeply into the field of demonology, in hopes to either get to Hell, or summon a demon forth. Very few people on the planet had such knowledge, and were not about to simply give the information away. During their research, they created a device that could locate any form of demon, and it came up with a handful of results. Maypop didn't waste any time and made her way to the nearest location.
There, she found an imp, one of the elderly persuasion. It seemed to be building a small house when Maypop arrived, and her summoned ogre's were able to quickly capture the creature. The imp attempted to fight back, as Maypop attempted to strike a deal of offering it's blood. During the scuffle, the imp threatened to curse her, and something inside Maypop snapped. Without hesitation, Maypop stabbed the imp in the chest with a large knife, causing it's valuable blood to shoot forth onto her face, her sudden actions even taken the ogre's by surprise. After a moment of pure silence, Maypop's tone shifted, and demanded that the ogre's drain and get as much blood out of the dying imp as they can, something they reluctantly performed.
As they left, Maypop ordered the imp's corpse to be buried with it's destroyed house. Remorse wasn't on Maypop's mind, after all, it was a demon, likely one with evil intentions, if anything she had done the world a service. She went back home with a large amount of blood, and proceeded to make multiple batches of the potion. Although she had no way to confirm if the potion had indeed done anything with her lifespan, she immediately felt revitalized and full of energy, and fully assumed that it had worked. Over the span of a few weeks, she would drink potions regularly, and now feels she will now live longer than she would've before the curse was put upon her. While she is in no hurry to look for another demon, she has kept a very close eye on them, should she need more blood...
She left her home town and began to live a new life with her wealth. She found excitement in searching the ruins for treasure in the past, so it was a life she pursued yet again. She found a friend in Vera, the two having friendly rivalries for a while. This friendship would be broken however, as during a drunken stupor, Maypop revealed and bragged about the fact she had murdered someone. This was something Vera couldn't stand for and the two broke off. While no bad blood came after that, Maypop found one day that Vera had beaten her to the punch when finding an extremely rare artifact. This sent Maypop into a fury, and would swear to catch Vera for herself one day. With both of them having extremely high defense with their companions however, nothing has actively came from this spat yet.
Maypop now lives her life as a full fledged treasure hunter, almost purely for the wealth, and will not let anyone stand in her way. She will capture and torture anyone that looks at her treasure sideways, and now only has her ogres and artifacts to keep her company. She still keeps appearances however, and does behave herself in normal society, but has now garnered enough of a reputation to be feared by many.
If we want to look into Maypop's kinky side as we have done with the others, she is absolutely dominant. Sometimes, when she captures and torments people, either because they got in her way of treasure or they attempted to rob her estate, she can grow quite attached and attracted to her victims, and will keep them for more...sexual torment. Of course, she is exceptionally ticklish, but she loathes being held against her will and being tickled in general. She is a hard catch, due to her easily accessible Ogres, but she can easily be caught off guard and can't really fight herself.
I'm hoping these won't keep getting longer, I tried to shorten and abridge as much as I could lol
So Maypop has undergone quite the facial transformation above all else, but practically everything else about her is the same. She has always been a 'fairy dragon' but she kinda just looked like every other dragon. Part of me wanted small antennae to make it work, then it dawned on me that I was essentially making a faerie dragon from HoMM3, but I liked it and stuck with it, eventually adding the spikey eyebrows and committing to the idea.
Next up will be Namina, who will be getting a change and a half. Might be the hardest one.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE ANY CHANGES, you are free to say so. But you need to explain WHY you don't like it. Just saying you don't like it does nothing for me.

Oh wow.
I was... NOT expecting to feel this sorry for her. ;~;
I am now feeling extremely conflicted on my feelings towards her, but hey. That just means you've got a good backstory on your hands! ^_^
And of course her reference art is absolutely fantastic. Expecially love the expression work.

Gosh this redesign is just fantastic ; v ; will say it makes her a good bit more unique than just 'a purple dragon' and actually learning about the Fairy dragon angle makes so many things make more sense ; v ; having her backstory fully defined too is just awesome, though having Vera be angry with her about killing is rather rich... (though might not know of some Vera back story changes, but the Vera I know just seems like she's being a hypocrite XD fpahah).
BUT either way, that is really awesome, and I must say having her back story fully developed like that is great ; v ; so much more dynamic of a character and I appreciate her so much more! Might actually want to throw Ven at her again with this in mind...I feel they could actually connect even more than they did back when we first flailed about with the idea, especially now that we've talked a lot more since then XD
The idea of her actually coming in contact with Silth is a LOT more of a plausible one now too... :3c this opens so many doors, and is just, again, a fantastic redesign to boot ; v ; so much approval from me aaaa!

A couple of things related to Vera:
From information I had at the time, no, she hadn't killed anyone nor was intending to. When asking the other party about it, they weren't sure if they were going to lean into the changes completely or not, which does leave us a bit in the dark. But in either case, I will change the text to say that Maypop bragged about it, rather than simply revealed it, as regardless of what Vera's done, she still not keen on people bragging about it like it was an accomplishment, especially when it was an innocent individual not harming anyone.
This was also likely WAY before Vera had killed anyone. While the murder might have separated to the two initially, it's Maypop's greed that would keep them separated, regardless of Vera's actions afterwards.

Aahh ok, that would make sense. I just knew that during my discussion about Vera's inclusion in Eria's backstory, there was a point in which it was stated that 'it's a good thing Eria didn't find out that Vera killed her parents, or that might have gotten things REALLy bad!' From my knowledge that was the only time where she ever did do a killing, everything else was torture or intended to be, but yeah, it just made me blink a few times that she'd have such an aversion to it when she did so herself, but again, not sure if it also might have been something else I might have miss-understood at some point.
I just remembered that interaction because it's rather pertinent that Eria never finds out about Vera having done that or else it might end badly. They might be able to talk it out, but it more than likely might result in the leveling of the estate. So that's just why it came up in my mind as something that was odd, but yeah, if she was with Vera before the events of her own 'sudden increase in wealth', then that would likely explain it, and maybe it's the whole conversation that made Vera do what she did in the first place.
But yea! ; v ; that sounds good to me now thennn!

Yyyeah, don't mention the word "curse" with her around if you don't want to meet a horrible end. Being left along for a long time during young times can break you. o_o
Quite the tragic villain. But hey, I liked the story! Who knows if she will truly live longer thanks to the demon blood potions.
