This is an element of three models representing violent goat/sheep men. they were made from bits exclusively taken from games workshop domain (some produced by milton bradley weirdly enough.
Functionally they supply low cost numbers with some reasonable back bone strength to my beast man war band. They are very aggressive and charge right in there in order to cause damage or tie up more valuable opponents with significant threats. They are only really able to take on isolated pockets of resistance or as part of a larger herd effort to trample something to death.
Aesthetically I chose beast men as the core society of the war band because their simplistic enthusiasm and only partial ability to reason appeal to me. They gravitate to moving in numbers for mutual protection, they engage in displays to define themselves amid the mix, and they hunt in small packs instead of moving in patrol. Their fighting style is as much trial and error as it is an emulation of more distinguished elements in the Gang herd.
In particular these bucks have been trained as promising slaves by a more experienced warrior who is acting at the direction of one of the Gang Herd's leaders. They have displayed their rudimentary abilities with weapons and their physical conditioning and have were 'freed' by earning their 'title/role' of Buck. As long as they maintain that title they do not have to fear the sting of the lash, being eaten by their peers, or given as sacrifice to the things that dwell in the ruins.
