Sam & Max (And Carmelita): The New Cadet
“So, Ms. Fox, it looks like your day job is with...Interpol? Sweet Taco Bell Tuesday, that's a prestigious occupation! So what brings an international crime-buster like you into the office of the Freelance Police?”
“Well, I've gotten a tipoff that an internationally-wanted mob boss might have gone into hiding somewhere in your...charming...little neighborhood, and I was hoping to enlist the cooperation of the local authorities in—”
“Hold on a New York Minute. I thought your name sounded familiar...weren't you suspended from Interpol? Something about...ah...trying to brainwash a thief who took a bullet for you? Thus inadvertently triggering said thief's heartbroken relapse to a life of crime, which might have been avoided if you'd NOT taken advantage of his supposed amnesia?”
“Th-that was...he...I...n-now, LISTEN! The papers got the story all WRONG, I swear! That ringtail, he...!”
“I'll speak with brutal honesty, Ms. Carmelita Fox. That's underhanded, low-down, and decidedly outside the scope of normal thuggery as expected of modern law enforcement.”
“B-b-but...!”
“Between that, and your established record of ultra-violence to perps who may or may not have completely deserved it, you'll fit right in! Congratulations!”
“...¿Que?”
“Welcome to the Freelance Police! I'm Sam, and this here's my homicidally-huggable partner, Max! Say, what IS that in your mouth?”
“Why, just some fan mail from the jailed mastermind of one of our more recent cases! Where should I ditch it?”
“Good giddy golly, you're getting better at talking with a full mouth, Max! Just toss it someplace where it won't hurt anyone we care about.”
“...Hey, Cadet! Hold this for a minute, willya?”
“'Cadet?!' Why, you...!”
“You crack me up, little buddy.”
Carmelita could already tell this was going to be a bad idea. Just what had she gotten herself into...?
